PERIMETER CLOUD

Cloud Consulting

Get a senior AWS architect on whatever you're building, migrating, or trying to fix

Senior AWS cloud consulting for new system design, migrations, cost and performance problems, or something that's already broken in production. Scoped to your actual problem, not a fixed audit format.

Who this is for

Planning a migration or major rebuild

Moving to AWS, re-architecting a monolith, or restructuring a multi-account setup, and want it designed right the first time.

Something's broken, slow, or costing too much

A production issue that keeps recurring, a performance problem, or an AWS bill that's quietly gotten out of hand, and you want it actually fixed, not just diagnosed.

No in-house cloud architect

Your team ships product; nobody owns architecture decisions. A senior second opinion before you commit to a direction.

What's included

Scoped to what you're actually trying to solve. Most engagements fall into one of the categories below.

Architecture Design & Review

  • New system and application architecture design
  • Multi-account structure and landing zone setup
  • Infrastructure-as-code adoption (Terraform, CDK)

Migration & Modernization

  • Lift-and-shift and re-platforming to AWS
  • Containerization and modernizing legacy workloads
  • Database and data pipeline migration

Cost Optimization

  • Architecture-level cost reduction, not just a bill audit
  • Right-sizing, reserved capacity, and commitment planning
  • Identifying waste from over-provisioned or idle resources

Scaling & Reliability

  • Load and traffic-growth handling
  • Multi-region and high-availability design
  • Disaster recovery planning and testing

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving

  • Production incidents and recurring reliability issues
  • Performance problems, from slow queries to slow deploys
  • Diagnosis and an actual fix, not just a root-cause writeup

And once the work is delivered, we don't disappear either. We stay available for any follow-up questions as your team takes it forward.

How we work

AWS Well-Architected Framework

Recommendations grounded in AWS's own six pillars, security, reliability, performance, cost, operational excellence, and sustainability, not generic best-practice advice.

Senior engineer, start to finish

The person who scopes the work is the person who does it. No account manager relaying your questions to someone else.

Fixed scope, fixed price

A written scope and price agreed before work starts. No open-ended hourly billing, no surprise add-ons.

How an engagement runs

1. Discovery call

Free 30 minutes to understand what you're building, fixing, or trying to solve, and roughly how big it is.

2. Scope & fixed price

A written scope and a fixed price agreed before work starts. No open-ended hourly billing.

3. The work

A senior engineer does the work directly, not handed off to someone more junior. Regular check-ins as we go.

4. Documentation & handover

Clear documentation and a handover call, so your team owns the result going forward, not locked into ongoing dependency.

Questions people ask before booking

What kind of projects do you take on?+

Anything AWS architecture-related: new system design, migrations, cost and performance problems, scaling issues, or something that's already broken in production. If it's cloud architecture, it's worth a call.

How is this different from the AWS Security & Architecture Review?+

The Security & Architecture Review is a fixed-scope, fixed-price security audit, same process, same deliverable, every time. Cloud Consulting is open-ended: whatever you're building, migrating, fixing, or trying to solve, scoped to your specific problem rather than a fixed audit format.

How is pricing worked out?+

We scope the work on a free discovery call, then agree a fixed price, or a capped estimate for larger engagements, before anything starts. No hourly billing.

Do you only work with AWS?+

Yes, AWS is our focus and where our expertise is deepest. If your problem is AWS-related, even indirectly, it's worth a call.

How quickly can you start?+

Depends on scope and current workload, but most engagements can start within a couple of weeks of the discovery call. Urgent production issues get prioritized.

What if we're not sure what we need yet?+

That's exactly what the discovery call is for. Tell us what's going on, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's something we can help with, and roughly what it would take.

Can you fix something that's already broken in production?+

Yes. Troubleshooting and fixing existing problems, not just designing new systems, is part of what this service covers. Tell us what's happening and we'll scope a fix.

Ready to talk through what you're building or fixing?

Free 30-minute discovery call. Scope and price confirmed before anything is booked.

Talk it through first. Free.

30 minutes, no pitch. If it's not something we can help with, we'll say so.
